2024-07-20 | Richelieu Cloak and Sword Festival

The Cloak and Sword festival takes visitors back to the 17th century, a time when the cardinal was ordered by King Louis XIII to build the city of Touraine.

Nearly 70 fencers will showcase the art of wielding the sword and bring to life the adventures of the “Three Musketeers” through duels and fencing skits on stage and in strolls with companies from all over the world. France, specialized in historical reconstruction with demonstration of musket and arquebus firing and explanation of the handling of weapons of this era.

Musicians, dancers, actors and acrobats, in period costumes, will take over the streets, squares, taverns and other places in the city, transformed into a true “living theater”.

A craft market will allow visitors to discover local and period arts and crafts.
